What size generator do I need?

Do outdoor lights need a special circuit?
Outdoor circuits must be GFCI protected and use weather-rated boxes and in-use covers. We install everything to code.
Can you install a fan where there is only a light?
Yes. We replace the box with a fan-rated brace box and, if needed, add a second switch.
Why do my LED lights flicker on a dimmer?
The dimmer is likely not LED rated. We install compatible dimmers and confirm the bulbs match.
How much does a dedicated circuit cost?
Cost depends on the distance from the panel and the amperage. We quote a flat price up front for North Carolina homes.
What size circuit does a hot tub need?
Most hot tubs need a 50 amp 240V GFCI circuit; larger spas need 60 amps. We size it from the manufacturer specs.
Why does my breaker keep tripping?
Either the circuit is overloaded, there is a short or ground fault, or the breaker itself has worn out. We test to find out which.
How long does an electrical inspection take?
Most homes take 1 to 2 hours. You receive the report the same day.
How do you charge for troubleshooting?

Does a power strip protect my house?
No. Power strips only protect what is plugged in and offer little protection against large surges. Panel-level protection covers every circuit.
How many smoke detectors do I need?
Code requires one in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area and on every level, all interconnected.
How many circuits does a kitchen need?
Modern code requires at least two 20A countertop circuits plus dedicated circuits for major appliances. We design it for your layout.
Do basement outlets need GFCI?
Yes, unfinished basement receptacles and all garage receptacles must be GFCI protected.
